Peptic Ulcer in Infancy and Childhood


Abstract
A report of a case of chronic peptic ulcer in the duodenum complicated by pyloric stenosis and acute perforation in a 14-year-old boy is presented with a review of the literatures.
The pt. has been suffered from epigastric pain, indigestion and anorexia for 5 years. The epigastric pain gradually increased in severity with aging. Occasional nausea and mild degree of constipation had also been present but no episode of hematemesis or melena noted.
Vomiting began to be appeared since the Summer of 1965 and aggrevated in severity and frequency. Finally he became to be unable to take foods because of vomiting. He admitted to the Surgical Dept. of Woo Sok University Hospital for the purpose of surgical management on Nov. 26. 1966. Acute perforation- complicated during the period of pre-operative preparation, and simple closure of the perforation was carried out as a emergency means. Radical gastrectomy with antecolic gastrojejunostomy was performed 3 weeks later. His post-operative course was uneventful.
